Star Wars. Those two little words will make me do some insane things. Camping out? Yes! Get a tattoo? Yes! Travel to California to be surrounded by fellow friends? Yes! Star Wars, as many of you all know, has been a major part of my life throughout the years. From that little kid who had no clue what the heck a Phantom Menace was to now, where I consider Mark Hamill my bestie (that’s for another story), I’ve talked about it all. But I also haven’t. There’s loads on the Star Wars spectrum that I haven’t really mentioned that much on the internet, so I thought I’d start sharing bit by bit. From toys (going way back) to books (I’d like to vomit my feels more often on), why not bask in the Star Wars nostalgia? So I thought I’d share my love for some of my all time favorite Star Wars video games.
Yes, I love love love the Star Wars games! But I will admit… my favorite games are the Lego games. I love most of all the Star Wars games, even the horrible ones. They’re always so much fun, that I can hardly find faults. I’m biased, yes, but I sincerely enjoy them ALL. I’ve only played a few on actual consoles, while most I have played online. While the actual Lego games are super fun and amazing (especially The Clone Wars game), when I was younger, I actually spent more time playing the shorter, online versions. You know, the ones off of the Cartoon Network website and stuff. Below I’ve highlighted some of my favorites and which I rank the best of the best.
Lego Star Wars – online editions
The Lego Star Wars mini games vary. You have the complete saga and The Clone Wars for PS3, Xbox 360, DS, and PC. While you also have the line of mini games only available online. There wasn’t many that were released, but man, were they sure fun.
At one time, there was the Lego Star Wars Adventure mini game, which had a Christmas theme going on for it. The controls were simple, but the game is still one of the best online mini games. You also play as Luke, so of course this is the best online Lego game ever in existence. And since it’s free, it’s even better!
Lego Star Wars Microfighters’ isn’t necessarily old, but it’s not that new either. It was released as an app to accompany the new line of the more affordable Lego Star Wars line, but it’s available online as well. It basically plays like Space Invaders. You pick either the light side or the dark side, get your vehicle, and go shooting away!
There’s plenty more Lego Star Wars games out there online, but then there’s also some fun non-Lego games that I highly recommend as well. From The Clone Wars to Rebels, there’s a game for everyone!
Star Wars games – non-Lego, online editions.
Star Wars had a very limited selection of online games before the hit movie and television show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars debuted. Since it premiered on Cartoon Network, who are know for offering a slew of free online games, The Clone Wars got the treatment it deserved and many games were produced because of it. Here’s a few of my favorites from then and also now.
Yoda Battle Slash is such a fun, quick game. In the game, you basically hop from battle droid to battle droid with your lightsaber, slashing away at the bad guys, getting points, and beating all the high scores you can. For reference, just imagine Flappy Bird, but with Yoda. And battle droids. It can sometimes be a bit difficult, but it passes the time and still holds up today. It’s also super frustrating, but worth it.
This next one is definitely newer, but fits because the season 2 premiere is this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! And that is: Star Wars Rebels: Ghost Raid! In todays age, short online games are present, but don’t really lack the substance older shows and sites used to do. Luckily, this is Star Wars we’re talking about and this latest little game captures all the nostalgia and feelings you went through while playing some of the older titles.
Starfighter Rescue is another one of those point and shoot games, in the style of the Microfighters app. This little game definitely has a special place in my heart because I grew up with the prequel trilogy. I love N-1 Starfighters so much. Although this’ll probably be as close as I get to actually piloting one IRL, sadly.
These are just a few of my favorite Star Wars online games. I could go on and on about the others and the console games, but I’ll save that for another post. I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I’m very excited at being partnered with Poki. It means that I get to share these lovely Star Wars games with you!
[Psst: While I’m on the subject of games and the fact that Inside Out comes out this Friday, *jumps with joy* did you know that there are also Inside Out Games you can play? Play them here!]
