I recently saw my friend Megan aka The Nerdy Girlie start this new link up and I just knew I had to be a part of it! It’s called, “Confessions of a Blogger”. I love the idea of all different types of bloggers sharing, what they normally wouldn’t share, about being a blogger. We all blog differently and have different ways/feelings about, so I feel it’s sort of a way for all us bloggers to bond over things we thought we were alone in. Now it’s my turn!

SCHEDULES. I love setting up blogging schedules, but I always get frustrated with them. I think because I’m always changing my mind about what I want to write that day and/or week. I try to keep organized, but ever since con season began, my schedule has been all over the place.  I’m hoping to get it back in order soon especially since October is almost among us. (Halloween month, OH YEAH!)

PROMOTING. I have a love/hate relationship with promoting my posts. On one hand, I love sharing what I’ve wrote or created! I take pride in my blog, so I always feel like sharing it. But on the other hand, I don’t want to clog up peoples feeds with all the stuff I write. I’m always 50/50 about it, but I try to usually stick to only posting one post (on all social media sites!) about whatever thing I’ve written. Then I’ll post an “ICYMI” (In case you missed it) either later that day or even the next day.

LAZY. I usually blog in my pajamas about 99% of the time. That 1% is when I’m at a convention (definitely SDCC!) and I have a short break before heading out again. The thing is, I don’t mind at all. I love pajamas!

LAYOUT. I stress over my blog layout ALL the time. It’s not actually the theme I worry about (Which I’m super happy with right! I never thought I’d be able to say that in a million years.), but the pages/widgets. I use WordPress.com, so I can’t post a lot of things into the HTML, so I’m always getting upset about that. The other week, I tried to set up a widget so people could get a free ad on my site via Passionfruit (I’m always trying to support all my favorite blogs, so I wanted to open an option where other geeky blogs could put there button on my site too.) and WordPress wouldn’t allow it. Ugh. But that’ll hopefully be changing in the coming weeks when I make the switch to WordPress.org. Oh yeah!

POSTS. I always fear that my posts won’t be read the way I intended them too. I try my best to put together posts that not only I am proud of, but that I’d be proud to submit to sites and show others. It depends on the post, but if it’s something I’m crazy proud of, I’ll spellcheck that baby a million times.

BEING PROUD. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with being proud. I love sharing my posts with family and friends because I am so happy with the final results. If it makes YOU happy, then that’s all that matters and that’ll definitely show in your writing. So dear bloggers, please, never be ashamed to be proud about something you wrote/created. 🙂

Thank you Megan for for creating this link up! I honestly had such a great time writing this and I definitely enjoyed sharing some of the stuff I think about behind the blogging scenes.

  1. You should be proud! Your work is great, and it’s fun! Keep up the good work dude!

(Also, I too wonder about the overage of self promotion, but I figure, if I’m promoting other peoples blogs, and other articles, and talking to other people over social media, I can’t really be spamming…right? <serious question, cause I really am not sure 🙂 )

    1. THANK YOU, JOIE! That’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten.

You’re right, we shouldn’t count it as “spamming” really. I’ve never thought about it that way, but I never have a problem posting a million things about other peoples posts/blogs, so why should I feel guilty about my own stuff. 🙂
