Outlander. Oh, how I love thee. I had heard so many things about it. Whether if it was from friends or at SDCC, it was all the buzz. (It’s also the book of the season for the Boundless Book Club!) So I decided last week to finally start watching it and became obsessed!

First off, I love that this takes place in Scotland. While I’ve never been, I do have a friend whose went many times and just seeing pictures and hearing stories, it’s made me wanna visit. Now that I’ve seen this show, I’m so going to have to plan a trip!

Now I’m sure everyone’s favorite part of Outlander is Claire Randall played by the very talented, Caitriona Balfe. I love Claire for so many reasons. She’s smart, she’s funny, and she’s a strong female lead! I love how Claire wasn’t portrayed as stereotypical. Yes, she’s confused, but she uses her wit and smarts and makes the best of any situation. She sticks up for the week and carry’s her own throughout this place she’s never been before. I haven’t read the book yet (I’ve downloaded it! I just need to make time for a book of that size.), but from what I’ve heard, these past 5 episodes stay true to page which is refreshing to see in a television series.

I love the music! It’s so good and takes you away to a different place and time. I think the reason audiences are so open and loving of this show is because not only does it have a huge fan base via the book, but shows like Games of Thrones have shown audiences that these shows with huge budgets and a grand story can be really, really good! I’m so glad I stumbled upon it and now I literally have a hard time waiting for episodes a week at a time. To feed my Outlander needs, I’m very keen on reading reviews and different posts relating to it. Here’s some of my favorites: Confessions of a Sassenach from The Nerdy Girlie and Amy Ratcliffe’s favorite moments and quotes from each episode.

Have you watched Outlander yet? What are your thoughts?

  1. I am loving both the book and the show. Though both are slow, the book took me to page 200 to get into, & now I can’t stop, and the show’s last ep 6 ended with what I hope will be an amazing 7th episode. Ready for them to get to the good stuff!! Thank you for the shout out Travis!! xx

    1. I agree! I can’t wait to start reading Outlander for the Boundless Book Club! And I can’t wait for it start getting to the really good stuff! It’s going to be amazing, I just know it!
